Live from Lock One with Taína Asili y la Bande Rebelde, plus The Ameros

This show is the first of a regular series called “Live From Lock One,” documenting some of the most creative local artists on the live music scene. Each of the performances will be recorded with a studio audience and streamed live. “Live From Lock One” takes its name from the Federal Dam in Troy, a structure built across the Hudson River a block from The Sanctuary for Independent Media. The location of the dam marks the northern end of the Hudson River estuary; it is the first lock encountered by vessels passing from the Hudson River into the Great Lakes by way of the Barge Canal. The inaugural concert features Taína Asili y la Bande Rebelde and The Ameros.

Taína Asili y La Banda Rebelde features soulful vocals laid over a unique infusion of rock, neo-soul, reggae, hip hop, and Afro-Caribbean sounds. The band’s eclectic style represents the diversity of its band members, who have origins in Puerto Rico, Sicily, Greece, Brazil and Tanzania. Taína Asili carries a fire breathing voice of profound passion and uncompromising spirit, seeking to inspire personal and political transformation through her words and music!

The Ameros are an Albany-based rock band, not to be confused with the “Amero” coins allegedly being minted by the government for use by a secret economic union of the U.S., Mexico and Canada!
